Off-Campus Database Access Setup Instructions

  1. Your browser MUST be set to accept cookies, and java and javascript must be enabled. We strongly encourage you to use a current version of your favorite browser.

    • All current browsers are supported. These include Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Opera and Apple's Safari browser. Other browsers that are equivalent to these should also be supported.

  2. When you access an online resource that requires you to be associated with San Antonio College, you will be asked to authenticate. You will be using a Secure Server so your browser should inform you that a secure site is being used. You will be asked to provide a User Name and Password.

  3. In most cases your User Name is your PALS username.

  4. Your Password is your default PALS password. We are not permitted to give any of this information by email or over the phone. If you need to get this information, you can get it by coming to the Reference Desk at the Library and presenting a photo id.

  5. If you are having problems with your username and password, go here for information.

  6. The Authentication Page will display the first time you try to access one of the Library's restricted resources during any given browser session. You will not be asked to authenticate again unless you close that browser session.

  7. If you use a personal firewall you may need to make modifications to the settings, or turn it off temporarily, to allow access to the databases. If you set your browser's security setting on high, you may need to change it to a lower level. Don't forget to change them back after you are finished.

Important Note: If you've accessed the databases from a publicly available machine at another institution, please make sure to quit your browser when you have finished using the online resources so your privileges aren't misused by someone else. You can quit by either closing all open browser windows or clicking on the File -> Exit or the File -> Close menu.
